DEA Clarification Regarding Controlled Substance Prescriptions – As of December 19, 2007 the DEA has made it legal for a physician to write controlled substance prescriptions for up to a 90-day supply. The link is a fact sheet that is offered as a guide to prescribing, filling and dispensing of controlled substances. The changes are following the Pharmacy Board's regulation changes with respect to the DEA actions of which you can access the actual law via the Pharmacy Board’s website at bop.nv.gov (note, do not use www for the Pharmacy Board) and look under the "Nevada Statutes and Regulations" tab. If you have any other questions, please contact the Pharmacy Board directly at 775-850-1440.
