NEVADA STATE OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE BOARD APPOINTS
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Las Vegas, Nevada.  The Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Weldon E. ("Don") Havins as its Executive Director.  Dr. Havins will be assuming the position on Friday, September 12, 2008. 

In addition to being a medical physician, Dr. Havins also has his law degree, graduating cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law.  Dr. Havins also has a LLM in Health Law.  He received a Masters Degree in Business from the Claremont Graduate University, and graduated from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University.

Dr. Havins is well respected in the medical field.  He has not only maintained a private practice but is also involved with the Touro University in Henderson, Nevada as an Assistant Dean for Academic Initiatives, and was formerly the Chief Executive Officer/Special Counsel for the Clark County Medical
Society. 

Dr. Havins will supervise the Board’s offices consisting at the current time of three staff members in addition to various consultants.  At the Board’s meeting on September 11th, Dr. Havins expressed his goals and expectations for the continued success of the Board of licensing qualified Osteopathic physicians and the regulation of such profession.
